Aim: The aim of this study which made as descriptive is to reveal young individuals' habits of using the Internet. Method: The study was conducted based on the data gathered through a questionnaire from 201 girls and 340 boys, 541 high school students studying at 9 state high schools selected using the cluster sampling method among the high schools in Eskisehir city centre in 2013. SPSS 16 was used for data analysis. Result: The mean age of the students involved in the research is 17, and 37% of them are girls and 63% are boys. In the study, it was identified that most of the students (69%) had a computer and Internet connection at home, used the Internet mostly for accessing networking sites (53,4%) and playing games, and a majority of the students preferred the games involving violence (26,1%). In particular, the males students and the vocational high school students preferred such games, went to Internet cafes, and spent more time on the computer. Conclusion: In addition to having a set of negative effects on young individuals, the games involving violence can cause them to lose their sense of empathy and tend towards violence by having a significant impact on their perception of reality.
